CHESAPEAKE BAY MARITIME MUSEUM, ST. MICHAELS, MARYLAND

Venture across the Bay Bridge from Annapolis, drive through the farmlands and there are small towns within an hour that are treasures for day tripping.  St. Michaels is one of my favorites:  I recently attended a boating function for work and took a few photos around the Maritime Museum, a wonderful collection of wooden boats, history and stories of the Chesapeake Bay oyster industry, the very famous blue crabs and life over the years for the local watermen.  If you have a few hours to spare, stop by - the setting is spectacular, few photos just to wet your appetite.  Many more to come.

The painted colors of Annapolis

Historic Annapolis is colorful at all times of the year - it's now early fall, the mums are appearing, the last flush of roses is holding on, the leaves are very slowly starting to change with the slightly cooler temperatures and there are still flowers everywhere.  As a spectacular backdrop are the historic old red brick and wooden clad homes, brightly painted, or natural dark wood siding with a red or blue door.  Color everywhere.

EARLY FALL FLOWERS IN ANNAPOLIS

I spent a few hours walking around the historic district of Annapolis this past weekend, stopping to smell the roses.  I drive around every day and never have the time to stop and look, so this was a real treat.  Annapolis is beautiful and colorful, not only the stunningly restored old historic buildings, but the hidden gardens, containers, flowers tumbling over wrought iron fences and little treasures growing amongst the cobbled walkways.

WHOLEFOODS - ONE OF THE LOVES OF MY LIFE

I shop hungry, buy far too much, but it's always delicious, fresh and healthy and never gets wasted.  The selection of local fruits and vegetables are wonderful, I prefer to buy from nearby local farms.  After work, I stop by, find something "meaty" and decide what to cook, then scout the veg department and put the evening meal together.  I would love to shop in the local market on the way home, as they do in Europe, but Wholefoods is the next best thing, I love it.  How are the mushrooms growing on a log!!!!!!!  Always wanted to grow my own and I will one day.
