SPRINGTIME in LONGWOOD GARDENS Part 1

Such an exquisite large garden to spend a day strolling the hundreds of acres open to the public.  In Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, a 2 hour drive is nothing for the reward awaiting.  One of the many duPont properties in the area, Longwood has huge indoor conservatories, and then outdoors, springtime boasts a walk with bulbs.  I took so many photos, so that is where I will begin……

Welcome…...

You don't get the perspective of height, I stood next to them and those foxgloves were four feet tall.  Also at the back and on the right are the native Redbud.

Let the drifts of awesome bulbs begin...

Sweet little forget-me-nots in the foreground

One of my many "favorites", the purple Anemones - summer bulbs interplanted with Grape Hyacinths

The stunning Anemone

A giant Allium in all it's glory, few Narcissus and other yet to be named purple bulbs

Huge plantings of hot pink Snapdragons

Me, loving Mothers Day in Longwood surrounded by such beauty

The start of the hot colors, introducing some red tulips

Spectacular Foxgloves

Allium being visited by a bee

How hot is that…..

Just to throw in something completely different, the perennial Columbine garden

The PRETTIEST GARDEN I have ever seen

NO NEED FOR TOO MANY WORDS, THIS PRIVATE GARDEN IS JUST BREATHTAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL, IMMACULATE, EXQUISITE, PRISTINE AND PERFECT YET WITH AREAS THAT RAMBLE WITH PERENNIALS DOING THEIR OWN THING.  I WANTED TO FIND A CORNER TO LIVE IN FOREVER AND NEVER LEAVE - IN SOME PICS YOU CAN SEE THE MIST COVERING THE SURROUNDING MOUNTAINS.  ANOTHER ONE IN THE GORGEOUS TOWN OF FRANSCHHOEK, IN WINE COUNTRY SOUTH AFRICA.
