LONGWOOD GARDENS CHRISTMAS 2014 - Part 4

Now for some lights - I heard that they start putting up lights in October, and now I can see why.  When the sun goes down, the garden comes to light, it looks like every limb has been entwined, not a tree is forgotten, and then floating on the lake are platforms with tree frames ablaze.  The evening was so calm, not a breath of wind, and the reflection in the water was so surreal, and so beautiful.

Longwood Gardens has about 20 indoor gardens which cover 4.5 acres, in heated and climate controlled greenhouses and conservatories.  A walk through all the gardens would cover about a half mile journey of delight as you explore the different areas.  There is something to delight everyone, and so much more.  Here are a few more things that caught my eye.  

A lovely huge tree, simply decorated with glowing red balls, sprayed manzanita branches and live white poinsettias.  

The South African inspired tree which I loved, with garlands of dried Protea flowers (the national flower) and topped with a bunch of Stelitzia Reginae (native to South Africa) - also known as the bird-of-paradise flower.  Very appropriate seeing as the theme is "birds".  I love the blues and golds.

An incredibly large and stunning wreath made from succulents in the desert garden area

The light is fading fast as the sun sets and the twinkling Christmas lights are beginning to show.

No words are needed to describe the exquisiteness of the indoor gardens, the conservatories, the detail and the beauty of the Christmas displays at Longwood Gardens, in Kennett Square, PA.  All themed to birds, eggs, nests, feathers, breathtaking………

Also known as "The most beautiful bathrooms in America" - vertical gardening at it's finest.  Even if you don't want to go, you just have to go, and even if you don't have to go, oh you WILL want to go!!!!!
